abandon?

Don't like the way george yao say about LTK.
‎"He has already abandoned the people who voted for him in Hougang. Now, he wants to use the people of Aljunied."

What is this? then why dun they use it on themselves. So changing to another area will means "abandon"? then they change here and there, all their people also "abandon" residents in their past constituency.
